How is Asphalt Made? PDF Print E-mail

Highly Efficient Process

1. Materials are fed into a large, sealed, rotary dryer drum.

Materials:

• Aggregate- natural occuring minerals (sand and various size stone)
• Recycled asphalt/pavement (RAP)
• Liquid asphaltic cement

2.  Aggregate is heated, dried, and mixed in the drum with recycled pavement and liquid asphalt.

-Dust collection system continuously filters air and reintroduces remaining stone dust into final step

3. Finished product is moved on a conveyor belt to heated short-term storage tanks.

4. Asphalt is trucked out within hours of production.

The entire process is self-contained with no waste produced.
