Best Available Control Technology PDF Print E-mail

Newport Materials will construct a state-of-the-art, “Next Generation” asphalt production facility. Unlike aging “batch-mix plants” that measure and mix smaller amounts of aggregate, Newport Materials will employ newer, rotary drum-mix technology that can produce larger amounts in a cleaner, more efficient manner. “Best Available Control Technologies” on site will monitor the continuous flow production line, which is fully automated to ensure safety and efficiency. A low emission “silent type” burner that can run on multiple fuel sources will be used to heat the materials, as opposed to the louder, less environmentally-friendly burners at many older plants.

Maximum Efficiency

These highly efficient technologies produce no waste byproducts and keep materials completely self-contained from start to finish. Recycled asphalt will be added during production to reduce the amount of new materials needed. The facility will feature two continuously operating dust control systems, as well as a sprinkler system and water truck to minimize airborne stone dust. The finished product will be delivered to a heated short-term holding silo via a system of enclosed conveyor belts, and will be hauled away by trucks soon after production.

At-a-Glance

  • Low emission, “silent type” burner that runs on multiple fuel sources
  • Highly efficient
  • Cleaner, quieter, faster production/delivery than older “batch-mix plants”
  • Extensive dust control system
